This province is to be found in the center of the country immediately next to La Vega and is equally beautifully adorned with its mountainous scenery.
The term Monseñor is an honorific name in Spanish applied to a cleric in the church and the name comes from Adolfo Alejandro Nouel y Bobadilla who was Archbishop of Santo Domingo and one-time president of the country in 1912-13.
The principle economic activities in the area are farming and mining. In fact it is the most important mining area in the country. In terms of farming the chief produce is rice, coffee, cocoa and dairy milk.
